design & build of an art gallery in bond street, mayfair, london
Client Brief Our clients did not want an archetypal minimalist white gallery. They requested a feeling of warmth, quality weight and longevity. Brief Specification The property was originally a double fronted Gordon Scott Shoe shop. The shop front was removed and replaced with a more traditional bronze frontage that complied with local planning regulations. As lighting was very important to light the works of art we used a Hacel lighting track system with removable reflective fittings for adaptability. A floating staircase was designed with a steel structure, clad in Elm wood - which was the theme of the wood throughout the Gallery. The lavatory walls were designed with Vere Eglomise antique glass. Each of the desks was hand made in ebony with an inlaid leather top designed as part of Xu Red bespoke furniture range. All other furniture was from Flexform.
